What Surface 604 owners say.
Three winters in. Still running.
Picked up a V-Rook from the floor in spring 2023. Commute NE to downtown 5 days a week, year-round. Through the cold snap last February (-32 with windchill) the battery range halved but it still got me home. Free first-year labour saved me a chain-line tune-up. Mid-drive torque sensor is the real difference vs. the Rad I rode before.
Sold me on the test ride.
Tested 4 different brands the same afternoon. The Shred was the only one that felt like a real mountain bike with a motor instead of a motorbike that thinks it's a bike. Brought it home, rode the 17th Ave to Glenmore Reservoir loop the next day. Belt-clean and quiet.
Boar Hunter, hands down.
Used to ride a fat bike non-electric for hunting weekends in the foothills. Switched to the Boar 750 last fall. Quieter than I expected, dual-range battery option pushed me to 100 km on a single charge with cargo. Calgary team set up my rack and panniers in-store. No notes.
Ordered online, no regrets.
Shipped to NW Calgary, arrived 2 days later, partially assembled. The eBC team did a free pre-assembly check before delivery. Colt commuter has been flawless for 6 months — LRT-to-downtown commute three days a week, paths the other two. Lights, fenders, hidden wiring, real components.
Great bike, fenders rattled.
Twist folding fat-tire shipped to my condo. Bike itself is solid — folds small enough to fit in my SUV for trips to Bragg Creek. One fender mount rattled out of the box; eBC mailed replacement bolts the next day, no hassle. Knocked one star because it shouldn't have shipped that way.
Step-thru Rook is perfect.
59, knees are not what they used to be. The step-through V-Rook with mid-drive lets me ride to the farmers' market and back without thinking about it. Battery is hidden in the frame so it doesn't look like a mobility scooter. Two friends bought the same model after riding mine.
